Laboratorium Klinis Fakultas Psikologi UBAYA Akan Mengadakan Acara Kuliah Umum dan Workshop : EXPLORING MUSIC THERAPY IN HEALTHCARE

If music be the food of love, play on!’ (William Shakespeare)

What is music therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
(American Music Therapy Association definition)

Music therapists work with a broad spectrum of client populations including psychiatric patients, the developmentally disabled, the blind, the deaf, the orthopaedically handicapped, the chemically dependent, autistic children, the geriatric population, prison inmates and others.

‘I regard music therapy as a tool of great power in many neurological disorders — Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s — because of its unique capacity to organize or reorganize cerebral function when it has been damaged.’ (Oliver Sacks, M.D.)

TARGET AUDIENCE

Public lecture : University of Surabaya community workshop participants*.
Workshop : Psychologists, psychiatrists, healthcare professionals and musicians who are interested to learn more about the topics.
